Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of Rideword, a desktop teleprompter application ("Software") provided by Rideword ("we", "us"). By downloading, installing, or using the Software, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Software.

1. License grant

Subject to these Terms and payment of the applicable one-time license fee, we grant one named user a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to activate and use Rideword on one Mac at a time for personal or professional use.

The trial version of the Software may be used free of charge for up to 14 days without a license key.

2. Restrictions

You may not:

Copy, modify, or distribute the Software or any portion of it
Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software, except to the extent permitted by applicable law
Sublicense, sell, rent, lease, or transfer the Software or your license key to any third party
Remove or alter any proprietary notices, labels, or marks on the Software
Use the Software for any unlawful purpose

3. License key

Each license key is for one user and one active Mac. You may explicitly deactivate one Mac before activating another. You are responsible for keeping the key confidential. We may disable a key after a refund, chargeback, or verified misuse; Rideword checks the exact activation periodically and provides up to 30 days of offline grace after a successful validation. Disabled or invalid entitlement never deletes your local scripts. Support can reset a stale activation after purchase verification.

4. Updates

A one-time license grants perpetual use of Rideword v1.x and includes updates released for v1.x. Major versions (for example v2.0) may require a separate purchase. The license is not a subscription, and we do not guarantee any specific update schedule.

5. Ownership

The Software is licensed, not sold. We retain all right, title, and interest in and to the Software, including all intellectual property rights. These Terms do not grant you any rights except as expressly stated.

6. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE.

In particular, Rideword is a tool for use during live presentations and demonstrations. We make no guarantee that the Software will function correctly during any specific presentation or event.

7. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SOFTWARE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING UNDER THESE TERMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SOFTWARE IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

8. Refunds

We offer refunds at our discretion within 14 days of purchase if the Software does not work as described. To request a refund, contact us via rideword.app. Refunds are processed through LemonSqueezy and are subject to their payment processing terms.

9. Termination

These Terms are effective until terminated. Your rights under these Terms terminate automatically if you fail to comply with any provision. Upon termination, you must cease all use of the Software and delete all copies in your possession.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes shall be resolved in the competent courts of the applicable jurisdiction. Contact us via rideword.app before initiating formal proceedings — most issues can be resolved informally.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version is always available at rideword.app/terms. Continued use of the Software after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
