Privacy Policy
Summary: Rideword stores your data locally on your device. One network call is made when you activate a paid license. No telemetry, no accounts, no behavioral tracking.
What Rideword stores on your device
Rideword stores the following data locally using your operating system's application data directory. This data never leaves your device except as described below.
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Overlay settings (opacity, mode, font size) | Restore your layout between sessions |
| Recent file paths | Quick-access file history |
| License key and activation timestamp | Verify your license without a server |
| Window size and position | Restore window between sessions |
| Script content (markdown text) | Persist your script between sessions |
About recent file paths: File paths on macOS and Windows typically include your home directory name (e.g. /Users/yourname/Documents/…). Rideword stores up to 10 recent file paths locally. This data never leaves your device and can be removed individually within the app, or cleared entirely using the "Clear all data" option in settings.
Screen sharing and capture
Rideword does not capture or upload your screen and does not require Screen Recording or Accessibility access. It enables macOS content protection as a best-effort request for compatible capture paths to exclude the overlay.
This is not a privacy guarantee. Modern capture tools can still include protected windows. Opacity and Pass-Through do not change capture behavior. Share the specific app window beneath Rideword when possible, verify the outgoing view in a private preflight, and do not place secrets in a script you cannot risk exposing.
License activation
For a future paid release, Rideword uses LemonSqueezy for activation, periodic instance validation, manual refresh, and deactivation. Requests contain:
- Your license key
- The generic label
Rideword on macOSduring activation - LemonSqueezy’s server-issued instance ID during validation or deactivation
Rideword does not send a hardware/device identifier, script, name, or email. LemonSqueezy receives your IP address as part of HTTPS and may return purchaser metadata already associated with the key; Rideword neither uses nor stores that response metadata. Validation occurs when license status is needed after its 24-hour cadence, not through a background daemon. A last-valid entitlement can work offline for up to 30 days. See LemonSqueezy's Privacy Policy.
Rideword has no account, analytics, background sync, or telemetry requests. Opening a help, privacy, pricing, or support link uses your default browser. The opt-in Labs phrase-matching experiment can invoke macOS/Chromium speech services; recognition availability and offline behavior are controlled by the system. Follow My Voice does not use those services: it analyzes microphone volume on-device and creates no transcript.
