Privacy Policy
Summary: Rideword stores your data locally on your device. One network call is made when you activate a paid license. No telemetry, no accounts, no behavioral tracking.
What Rideword stores on your device
Rideword stores the following data locally using your operating system's application data directory. This data never leaves your device except as described below.
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Overlay settings (opacity, mode, font size) | Restore your layout between sessions |
| Recent file paths | Quick-access file history |
| License key and activation timestamp | Verify your license without a server |
| Window size and position | Restore window between sessions |
| Script content (markdown text) | Persist your script between sessions |
About recent file paths: File paths on macOS and Windows typically include your home directory name (e.g. /Users/yourname/Documents/…). Rideword stores up to 10 recent file paths locally. This data never leaves your device and can be removed individually within the app, or cleared entirely using the "Clear all data" option in settings.
License activation
When you activate a paid license, Rideword sends a single HTTPS request to LemonSqueezy (our payment and licensing provider) containing:
- Your license key (the key you entered)
- A static app identifier string (
"Rideword")
As a byproduct of any HTTPS connection, LemonSqueezy also receives your IP address. Rideword does not send your name, email address, or any other personal information. LemonSqueezy independently associates license keys with the purchaser's email and payment information collected at checkout — see LemonSqueezy's Privacy Policy for details on how they handle that data.
No other network requests are made during normal app operation.
Landing page (rideword.app)
The Rideword website loads fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com). As a result, your browser sends a request to Google's servers when you visit this site, and Google receives your IP address. No cookies are set by this website. No analytics, tracking pixels, or behavioral tracking tools are used.
What Rideword does not do
- Rideword does not collect telemetry, crash reports, or usage analytics.
- Rideword does not require an account.
- Rideword does not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
- After the one-time license activation request, Rideword makes no further outbound network connections.
Your rights
Delete your data: You can clear all locally stored data (settings, file history, license data) from within the app via Settings → Clear all data. Note that clearing license data will require you to re-enter your license key.
GDPR (EU users): If you are in the European Economic Area, you have rights including access, rectification, erasure, and data portability. Because Rideword stores data locally on your device, you can exercise most rights directly within the app. For any questions, contact us via rideword.app.
CCPA (California users): Rideword does not sell personal information. California residents may request disclosure of data categories collected. Contact us via rideword.app.
